Sometimes Army life is just like "Army Wives"

One question I often get from non-Military friends and family is about how realistic the show Army Wives is. Everyone seems to have an opinion on this.

I have heard some people say that it is nothing like their experience and others have said it is exactly like how Army life really is. I feel like sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't. I felt a lot of what happened the first part of the first episode of season 6 was really right on. A few of the things they said were things either I have said or things I have heard others say. Waiting on orders, not knowing when you are moving and not really knowing what is going on with something is all very realistic.

How close some of the Army Wives are to each other is very realistic although the ranks of their husbands might not be. I am just not sure that in real life, those women would all be best friends. I think Pamela and Roxy would be and I think Claudia Joy and Denise would be. I think they could also be friendly with Rosen. I just don't think they would all be the best of friends.

Having all the Army Wives at the same post for the last 6 years is very unrealistic but I think it has to be this way to make a good show. If the main characters kept changing the show would not work out as well.

Overall I think they have been able to capture the spirit of Army life. They have hit many of the challenges we as Army Wives have had to deal with.

Although certain details might not add up, I think the show has done a good job overall.
