Why I Am And Will ALWAYS Be Addicted To Reality Shows Where Women And Men Search For Love

I'll admit it, I am a sucker for any and every reality show whose premise involves the possibility that two strangers will meet, that fairytale lightning bolt will hit, and they will simultaneously fall madly and passionately in love. And of course as the spectator I will get a front row seat to the evolution of their love story and for those brief moments, I too will believe that the seductive allure of love can conquer all.

There is something so hopeful and promising about that early potential of a love story, the exhilaration of a first kiss, the butterflies and anticipation as two virtual strangers regale each other with their hopes and dreams while each harbors the possibility that this other person is that final missing piece to their life puzzle.

Of course I have watched and invested in several reality television couples who I was convinced would find love they could sustain in the real world. Although these reality contestants' love may have been fueled by overflowing champagne flutes, feasting on fresh oysters and strolling on white-sand beaches under moonlit skies while waves lapped at their feet  (all of which are elements that when combined are the quintessential recipe for being pumped full of romantic pheromones) I still watched with baited breath as at the end of the season these romantic hopefuls pledged their love for one another- and in that moment- it seemed as though theirs would be a love story for the ages.

So when I learned that Lifetime is premiering a new docu-dating series called Love for Sail I knew I would be powerless against its charms! So what can viewers like me expect to see on this hour long Lifetime Series?

Love for Sail – which premieres Tuesday, April 10, at 10:00 pm ET/PT -will follow single women as they leave their day-to-day lives behind looking for love aboard a tropical cruise liner. In each episode of Love for Sail, four adventurous women will board a Norwegian Cruise Line ship and set sail to exotic locations surrounded by a group of equally-eager single men ready to embark on what they hope to be the voyage of their lives.  With the help of the series’ Cruise Directors, Bucko and Carmen, the women meet their suitors at an opening mixer...and then the intense match-making begins.  Throughout the cruise the singles participate in a wide variety of romantic dates, mixer parties and adventuresome excursions in many ports of call, giving them the time and space to learn more about each other.  Some will make love connections.  But for others, it’s not smooth sailing.  Either way, viewers will enjoy the fun and drama behind the competitive courtship among the women and men, all of whom are hoping to hook-in a mate on this once in a lifetime journey.

Well you know where yours truly will be every Tuesday from here on in; glued to my couch, with a hand in a microwaved popcorn bag, watching and hoping these couples will find their happily ever love story or at least their Mr. and Ms. right now!
