A: Zannie's Lemon Herb Chicken from the "Sexy Forever Recipe Bible".
Q: You have been married to your husband for 44 years. What's the secret to a happy (and spicy) marriage?
A: We are together 24/7. We have not spent a night apart in over 35 years. We have totally honest, no holds barred, interactive conversations. We still turn each other on big time! We just took a 3,000 mile road trip through the Southwest…no phones, no mail, just us. We are each other’s very best friends and we spend our days speaking in shorthand and laughing a lot. We are one very lucky duo.
Q: Best advice for keeping a healthy mind?
A: Liberate your thinking. When you can openly discuss with your closest, your deepest and darkest secret, you have evolved.
Q: What are three style rules women should live by?
A:
- Don’t wear all your jewelry at the same time.
- If you’re chubby, don’t wear loud floral designs; wear black.
- Don’t hang on to that fave hairdo from your teens; play with different styles until you find one that’s appropriate for your age. Don’t try to look like you are wearing your daughter’s clothes.
Q: What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
A: I have always been a patriot and I get teary at flag ceremonies. I treasure our American way of liberty, freedom and thought. If I were in the military, I would be willing to die for my country. I love our military! I toured all our military bases in Germany and Korea with my Las Vegas show; 18 beautiful leggy dancers…the guys went berserk! I am proud and grateful to be an American and I cherish and value our great country and I respect my fellow citizens, not matter their politics.
Q: How were you able to juggle a successful career while raising kids?
A: It was very difficult. There was a pull between both worlds; the thrill of being on the number one hit TV show and all that comes with that kind of notoriety, and simultaneously having three teenagers going through their own emotional adjustments, including being a blended family. I’ve written a book about this called “After the Fall”. It is difficult enough being a teenager without all of these other components so we tried to keep some semblance of normalcy. Weekends were at home with family dinners and picnics. Looking back, I could beat myself up for not being perfect but I believe we did do something right. Today, our children are all grown up and happy with families and successful businesses of their own. We all get together regularly for family dinners and events and count on one another to be there when life throws us curves.
Q: What message do you have for women about healthy aging?
Bio identical hormones, bio identical hormones, bio identical hormones! You will enjoy robust health, a great libido, perfect weight, wonderful skin and healthy insides.
Q: Are you a spiritual person?
A:I am very spiritual. We hike the San Jacinto Mountains and have a secret little place at the top with a flowing stream that we occasionally share with wild horses. It’s then that I realize that I am in my church and feeling a power greater than myself.
Q: What do you love most about your life now?
A: I love having our large and stimulating family and I adore my husband; after that, it’s all frosting!
Q: What makes you feel sexy?
A: Sexy…there’s a loaded word. I feel sexy because I am desired by my husband who never fails to tell me how much he loves me.
