A Not-So-Happy Reunion (My Episode 1, Season 3 Recap)

Kendall and I were very much looking forward to getting back into the swing of things after some time off. The Nationals were a huge success, winning first place and of course beating the Candy Apples!  Upon arriving at the studio after having a nice long break, I was surprised to see the Hylands were not at rehearsal. As much as I want Brooke and Paige on the team, I totally understand their decision not to return.  I just hope it is a decision they can all live with. Kendall and I will miss them!  

When Brooke and Paige didn't show up, Abby had a temper tantrum and ripped down the pyramid and stormed out of the room leaving us all standing there wondering who was on top!  Within a day Abby held an open call for two new students to replace Brooke and Paige.  Over a hundred kids showed up - Abby was in heaven and couldn't wait to see all of the new talent and of course throw it in our girls' faces.  Abby is always looking for talented kids.  I just hope she doesn't want to replace more than Brooke and Paige!  Once Abby narrowed down the kids, she found one, Allie, who she adored as a dancer.  Allie joined the team, no probation, and stepped right in and took Chloe's special part!  Whats up with that??  And of course, Shelly, Allies mom was not going to pass up on this opportunity for her daughter.  She will take whatever Abby gives her and run with it.

Kendall had been working very hard over the break and Abby rewarded her with the first solo of the season!!  So exciting!!!   I'm so happy for Kendall but so disappointed in Abby's approach, as usual.  Abby expects her to dance like the teens at the audition.  I want the best for Kendall but I don't want Abby to squash her self esteem. I have very high expectations for Kendall and I expect Abby to have high expectations for Kendall too, however Kendall is still only nine years old and most likely can't compete with all of the teenagers Abby had at her auditions.  Kendall performed her solo just fine, not amazing as I had hoped. I want Kendall to be the best she can be and if her best isn't good enough to win that has to be ok - I'm always proud of her.
