"Army Wives": A Behind-the-Scenes Look with a True Military Wife
Just another day on the set for the actors of Army Wives. Another day capturing true emotion, real stories and the bond between these women, sisters. Regardless of age, diversity or rank, these women form a bond and support each other through some of the toughest times in their lives.
I recently had the amazing opportunity to tour the Army Wives set, meet and interview the cast, and even watch them film. I have been a fan since the first season and never would I have thought I would get to be in the same room as them. I learned a lot, and just when you think you know the characters or the actors portraying them, you are surprised to learn that they are just as passionate about playing military wives as we are being military wives. One thing has stayed with me since visiting the set of Army Wives, the commitment that these actors make in order to accurately portray military spouses. They don’t just go in and read a script – they take the script and turn it into their lives.
Season seven may be hard at first for us loyal viewers, but as an Army wife I appreciate the reality that is portrayed in friends moving away and meeting new ones. Season seven will introduce a partial new cast in which we spouses will be able to relate to all the stories being told. You will witness a remarkable group of women - some familiar, some new and watch them form friendships to help guide them through the challenges of Army life.
I may just be another fan of Army Wives and another Army wife dealing with the struggles of military life, but the one thing that I am looking forward to the most this season is the bond between old friends, and welcoming new ones. I will always keep the friends that I have made on this journey close to my heart. Our military sisters are a very important piece to this military puzzle.
