The Battle Begins (My Episode 14 Recap)

We’re Baaaaaacccccckkkk!

Hello, Dance Moms addicts! Hope you all enjoyed the summer season premier and didn’t miss us too much while we were away. But, you know what they say: absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Well, in Abby’s case: absence makes me unnecessarily angry at all of those around me. Wowza! That pyramid was ugly. Abby made it blatantly clear that she did not care about any of the other girls what-so-ever and she doesn’t care who knows it.

As a mother and someone who used to work with children, I can tell you one thing: ALL CHILDREN ARE SPECIAL! All the moms were very offended that she would say something so hurtful in front of our kids without regard to their feelings. Luckily, our girls have loving and adoring families who make them feel special every day. And, no, it’s not coddling. It’s nurturing. It’s being a considerate human being. It’s…oh, never mind! On to the fun stuff!

Chloe made it to the top of the pyramid! Yipee! And she had a solo, a trio with besties Paige and Brooke and was the lead in the group dance! Big week! Pressure’s on! And in case you didn’t hear: it’s hard to get to the top, but it’s even harder to stay there. Just in case you were wondering.

Speaking of pressure, I had no idea that Abby was putting such an enormous amount of pressure on Chloe. And I completely disagreed 100% about having the other girls judging her. That scene was so uncomfortable to watch, not even just for Chloe, but for the other kids as well. I miss seeing the girls laughing and hugging and enjoying being with their friends and dancing! Bring back their sparkle!!

I know everyone was wondering why Kelly and I were pushing Melissa so hard to go speak her peace with Abby. It was because Melissa told us that she was upset that Abby used and lied to her and she could care less about Abby’s friendship. A lot was said and we felt that Melissa should be the one to say, “Hey! You took advantage of me and I don’t appreciate it!” Stand up to Abby. But, you see how that played out. And apparently, if you speak your mind to Abby, she wants to call 911 (hopefully, she has it on speed dial). Whatever happened to “The customer is always right?”

On to the competition!

We knew going into Southern California, our dances were not on par to compete with those hard hitting dance studios. We knew if we wanted to go there and win, we should be doing what our girls do best. And that is lyrical/contemporary. Not a high energy jazz routine. That’s what California does and that’s what they do well. Our kids can do it, but they are not as well groomed in that style. Why would Abby ever think we could go and beat them with that? The other moms and I almost felt like our team was being set up to fail, intentionally. And, unfortunately, she was going to blame it on the scapegoat leader this week, Chloe.

But I had no idea that Abby really felt the way she does about Chloe and her dancing until I heard it in her interviews. Wow! Fair to good, at best? Nice. At least she’s encouraging. Ha! I think Chloe danced beautifully and she had an enormous amount of pressure on her little shoulders. And I am pretty sure America agrees with me.  In all seriousness, thank you all for your love and support of Chloe and me (CHLOE AND I!!!!!!).

In the dressing room , things got a little heated with Abby and Kelly (I wish there was a sarcastic font I could have written that in). The screaming was insane! Kelly said to Abby, “What are you, Abby? An alto or a soprano? YOU CAN’T  EVEN SPEAK!!!” It was brilliant.

And we’re off to the races….

Cheers,

Christi
