Project Runway

Child’s Play and a Fierce Look for Moms

The latest "Project Runway" episode was one of my favorites to watch thus far simply because of the cuteness factor. Heidi Klum recently unveiled her new children’s clothing line, Truly Scrumptious, for Babies R Us and the designers were challenged to create a look for the line. They were each paired with a mama and kiddo duo and the babies were beyond adorable!

The designers didn’t seem as flustered by this challenge as I expected them to be…that was until Heidi and Tim threw them a curve ball. They were each given one of those life-like baby dolls that cry on the regular. You know…the kind that Dr. Drew would give to teenagers who think they want a baby.

Elena’s reaction to the baby was priceless. She was far from amused and I got the feeling that she wouldn’t have felt bad about chucking her doll out the window. Despite her disdain for the doll, which seemed almost as strong as her feelings about Dmitry, she did seem to enjoy designing for her uber cute little model! Unfortunately, the judges didn’t so much enjoy what she put out.

She was sent packing and she doesn’t really believe she should have been. When I spoke with her, she definitely didn’t hold back…but, then, we wouldn’t expect her to would we? When asked what she thought about being sent home she responded, “I didn’t think I deserved to be at the bottom. I thought there were much worse outfits. I followed what Heidi Klum's line asked of us. I was kind of shocked that I was at the bottom to be honest with you.” Who wants to guess who she thought should have gone home in her place? Yep..you guessed it…Dmitry! She had this to say about her nemesis… “I honestly think Dmitry’s outfit didn’t pertain to the challenge. He made something that didn't really belong in the collection.”

There definitely seems to be no love lost between those two, but there’s quite the love fest going on with all the ladies. I just love how they’ve stuck together and supported one another without fail this season! Elena’s picks for the winner were, of course, of the female variety. “I would like to see Sanjia or Melissa win. I think those two are the strongest designers left,” she told me.

It will definitely be interesting to see if either of the girls can give the judges’ darling Christopher a run for his money! I have to say, I just loved that little dress he created. My lil’ lady bean would be truly scrumptious in it…Get it? Haha!

For this week’s challenge inspired look, I gleaned inspiration from the way Sonjia dressed her mom. Her maxi/jacket pairing was one of my favorite mom looks! It was fierce with a capital F!
