Dylan Lauren Dishes On "Project Runway" & a Candy Inspired Look!
I can’t WAIT for the second episode of the tenth anniversary season of Project Runway! Would you like to know why? One word…CANDY! I have such a sweet tooth that it’s ridiculous and the upcoming challenge will take place in none other than Dylan’s Candy Bar. I can spend hours in there when I’m in NYC. No joke.

In the upcoming episode, the lucky designers will be asked to create a couture look with the non-conventional materials they can find in Dylan’s Candy Bar. Jealous…table for one! To be able to run rampant in that candy lover’s paradise sounds outta this world amazing!
I had the chance to chat with Dylan Lauren, the owner of Dylan’s Candy Bar and daughter of legendary designer Ralph Lauren, the other day. Since she’s a candy AND fashion aficionado, I had to know which candy she would have chosen had she been one of the designers. As a self proclaimed lover of bright colors, Dylan said she “would want to use Whirly Pops,” because “they have so many interesting colors and swirls.” She also would have used “translucent gummies with all their rainbow of colors.” In the same vein, when asked what her favorite fashion trends are right now, she responded with, “I love the bright colorblocks and neon!”
I, for one, love her choice of candy AND her favorite trends. I love them so much so, in fact, that I decided to style a look based on the Whirly Pop and colorblocking. I know that putting together a colorblocked look can be somewhat intimidating, but choosing an inspiration object, like a piece of candy and using the colors in it is a great way to try out the trend!
