Grab Your Broom For a Clean Sweep! (My Episode 14, Season 3 Recap)
I knew that when I hired John Culbertson to choreograph our routines this week that we’d be in good hands. But even with high expectations, I was still very pleasantly surprised at the outcome.
Let me start at the beginning though. It wasn’t my idea to hire John – yes, he’s a friend of Abby’s and that was certainly a perk, but it was actually Gino’s dad who was pushing for it. And I have him to thank. When I asked John if it would be a problem for him to choreograph for CADC , he told me that it was strictly business and that Abby had never even asked him to choreograph for ALDC – so he really didn’t have any issues with it.
When Abby bumped into John in the hallway at the competition, she put on a good show. She hugged him for a while and didn’t let go for what seemed like an eternity. She had a huge smile on her face. But I know Abby and knew it was eating her up inside.
The “clean sweep” had us jumping out of our seats. It’s a big deal when ALDC beats US – it drives us to work even harder so it’s an even bigger deal when we beat THEM….and beat them GOOD.
When Abby hurled insults at the end and questioned my involvement with the dances, she had it all wrong. I have my hand in all of the routines that my dancers perform – the choreographers, dancers and dads all look to my for my input and they relish what I have to offer. Additionally, she made a comment about my family – they are my support system and they come to each competition to cheer me on. Jealousy is not becoming!
