In episode 3 (Original air date: 12/28/2012) seventeen year-old Samm feels trapped in her rural Indiana hometown. With little hope of escaping, she is acting out--smoking marijuana and driving while high, snorting painkillers, having unprotected sex and failing out of school. Her parents, Dan and Charity, are completely in the dark about what Samm is up to outside the house. But Samm knows she is screwing up her own life--in fact, Samm, herself, contacted Josh for help. When Josh arrives, he forces Samm to face--in a very unconventional way--what her future will hold if she continues on her current path.
