Dance Moms
Insecurities, Sabotage and Apologies ("Dance Moms: Miami" Episode 3)
The theme this week was "Insecurities." I think the theme that Victor and Angel came up with was extremely powerful! It sends an important message to children not only in the dance world but everywhere in general. Lucas’ insecurity was feeling like an "outcast" due to the fact that he is a boy in dance and it just isn't the norm for little boys in 4th grade. He loves what he does and completely defends the art which makes me proud beyond words.
The kids decided to do impressions of us moms (which I'm sure without a doubt was Angel's idea). The impressions were quite funny and dead on. It's funny how you sometimes don't realize what you do or how you behave, but our kids are little sponges and obviously pay close attention and see it all. It was a good exercise for "us" moms in self-awareness.
When tension started to rise between Abby and Debi, I think the mood quickly changed due to the fact that they have a long history together and up until now things were quite peaceful. When things were brewing it was sign that someone was going to explode. Although we are usually present for and sometimes choose to be... the consensus was to let them deal with each other and stay out of "this" one.
However, I apologized to Abby because I felt so bad when I saw her crying, I really hate to see anyone ganged up on and I know how it felt was it was done to me. I know it’s hard enough being new to Stars, so I guess I thought I would make the first move and try to start over and make her feel a bit more welcome.
The wobble during Lucas’ solo did bother me because I knew if they caught it, it could cost him. But he held strong and did his best. I am extremely proud for the dedication and hard work he put into that solo and everyday he goes to dance. I love nothing more in the world than to see Lucas dance. I could truly just watch him for hours and the maturity in his face is priceless. I feel like I'm watching a grown man in this little body.
When Abby confronted Debi in the dressing room I was a bit shocked, but only for a brief second. I thought Abby was going to confront her eventually. I think what made the confrontation so impromptu was due to the fact that Sammy and Lucas didn't place top 10. So when that happened, she then questioned if "sabotage" possibly did play a part.
