It’s ALL About Laura Kathleen and a Winter Chic Look for Moms

I just loved the premise of the past week’s “Project Runway All Stars” challenge. It was all about the fans. Each designer had to select an image that one of their fans had submitted and design a look inspired by said image.

It’s the kind of challenge that gives a gal the warm and fuzzies. My heart was pleasantly warmed until the whole "Laura Kathleen is a privileged brat" business started. I get it. I mean who wants to listen to someone brag 24/7, but is she really doing that? I don’t know. I wonder if the pressure cooker situation they’re all in is making the designers just a wee bit over sensitive. Even if someone is being catty, when they’re ganged up on, they make for a much more sympathetic figure. Something tells me Miss Laura is no stranger to strategy. Anyway…that’s just my two cents.

When I caught up with the latest designer to be eliminated, Andrae, he seemed to think it was Laura Kathleen’s youth that caused her to act the way she did. When I asked what he thought of the other designers’ assessment of her and whether he thought it was fair he responded, “A lot of people complain about editing. They can only edit what you give them. I’m shocked to see just how negative she is. She is a young person. She’s just young. What can you do?”

Regardless of whether she’s well liked, the girl does have talent! I attended the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Season 9 show and I LOVED her collection. Just sayin’.

Now, let’s talk about the real meat and potatoes of the show…the fashion. I just loved Laura Kathleen’s interpretation of the water in her photo and Anthony Ryan’s design definitely appealed to this cobalt lover. He really seems to know what makes a product marketable…and putting out something that’s sellable seems to be the focus of the show in Andrae’s opinion. “My guess is that whoever makes the best, most wearable product will win,” he said when asked if he could predict a winner. It will be interesting to see if he’s right…If you’re looking for more of Andrae, you can find him over at his website. Now…on to the outfit o’ the week.

The grey and yellow palette that Emilio used happens to be one of my very favorite color combos, so I decided to use it for my episode inspired look!
