Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition

It's "Happily Never After" For Hadley & Yvette (Week 7's Eliminated Mom)

In the seventh episode "Happily Never After" Abby and the judges decided to send Yvette and her daughter Hadley back to the studio! Here Yvette shares her thoughts about the episode, Hadley's elimination and her roller-coaster relationship with Kristie. "Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition" airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Lifetime.

All I can say is that Fairytale week did not have a happily ever after for Hadley! It really was a tough week for her, and it broke my heart to see her so upset during choreography. I was so grateful for the support that Anthony Burrell gave to her. He encouraged her to keep going and she did just that. Hadley has a lot of heart, and I was so proud of the way she was able to push all of the hurt aside and preform that Tinkerbell solo. I was also glad that four dancers were able to do solos this week. At this stage of the competition, I think that all of the dancers should be given the opportunity to do a solo.

I thought Madison's challenge win during Fairytale week was well deserved. As a dance teacher, I appreciate great technique, and she has it! Unfortunately, when it came down to Asia and Hadley for elimination, I knew it was over. I just sensed that the judges were not ready to send Asia home yet. I did not want Hadley to leave on such a negative note. If it was our time to go, I at least wanted to leave on a positive note. I thought that the "roadkill" comment was totally unfair. I wish that there had been more constructive criticism and less name calling. Hadley is one super tough child, but hearing the judges’ feedback in front of a live audience on national television was difficult. However, being voted the Ultimate Fan Pick for five weeks straight definitely helped keep Hadley's spirits up.

Obviously Kristie was happy to see me go, and I have to admit that I was happy not to deal with that drama any longer. From the very beginning she pegged me as the one to watch because I was taking notes during choreography. I hated that she felt that way because there was absolutely no malicious intent behind my actions. I am a dance teacher! I was taking notes so that I could refer back to them in case we missed something. This immediately put a target on my back where Kristie was concerned. Asia is one talented young dancer, but let's face it...she was competing against older dancers who have years of experience and incredible technique. I think that Kristie truly felt like she needed to create some drama and I was her CHOSEN one!

I don't fault Kristie for standing by her daughter but I do think she took things too far when she threatened me with physical violence. Kristie needs to understand that this dance world is very small. The Golden Rule applies in this world too.

The cameras captured some tense moments, but it wasn't all drama. There were so many positive interactions among the moms and the dancers. Believe it or not, we shared many laughs and fun times! I think that most of the moms appreciated my support and advice. Hadley and I both left this show having made friends for life. Obviously, Kristie and I never ended up becoming friends. However, I wish Kristie and Asia nothing but the best.

Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition was an incredible experience! Hadley had the opportunity to meet and work with so many amazing choreographers. She took many new life lessons away from this experience. She understands that not all situations in life are what we expect, and she was reminded to stay focused on the positives. I truly had mixed feelings about Hadley being eliminated. There was a small part of me that was relieved to be leaving that intense environment and get home to our family and friends.

I'm back in the dance studio teaching and choreographing for our 2013 competitive dance season. Hadley is excited to start her new dance routines. I'm fired up and ready to make this dance season the best yet! Go THR!VE Dance Company!

I look forward to seeing ALL of the Abby's Ultimate dancers continue to grow on the show and beyond. My top 3 picks to win the competition (in no particular order) would have to be Brianna, Madison & Amanda.
