My Chat With Heidi Klum & a Heidi Inspired Outfit For You

If you’re a Heidi Klum fan like me, you’re probably a Project Runway fan too. And in case you haven’t heard, our beloved show is headed back to the air for its Tenth Anniversary Season on July 19^th at 9 PM EST! I can’t wait to get back to my weekly ritual of putting my feet up and surrounding myself with a smorgasbord of tasty treats, while enjoying one of my all time favorite shows. Of course, now that my lil’ lady bean is here, that ritual will probably involve breastfeeding too, but I digress…

As a fellow mama, I’ve always loved seeing how clearly devoted a parent Heidi Klum is. Although she’s a focused career woman and entrepreneur, like most of us, her most important role is that of mom. More often than not, when she’s captured out and about, she’s with her children and their outfits are just as cool as their mama’s! As much as I love Heidi’s Project Runway style, I’m equally enamored with her everyday looks. She has an easy breezy, yet uber cool sense of style that I’ve been inspired by on more than one occasion!

Last week I had the chance to chat with Heidi and I couldn’t resist turning the talk to kids. I asked her which Project Runway designers she would like to see create kids lines and she responded that I would “definitely have to watch this season because there is definitely something like that incorporated.” She’s such a tease! Haha! But all the more reason to watch!

I also had to know if she has as much fun dressing up her kids as she does herself or whether they’ve developed their own senses of style already and like to pick out their own outfits. “Some do and some don’t,” she said. “Lou and Johan don't care as much about clothes.” Although, she did say that “Lou has a polka dot and leopard dress that she loves!” Little Lou is a girl after my own heart. She might not have a definitive sense of style yet, but she knows how fabulous mixed prints are! Heidi went on to say that, “My fashionistas are Henry and Leni. Henry changes his clothes ten times as day. He definitely has a very unusual way of dressing.”

And just like many moms, she has house rules… “Rule number one is to always look cool and rule number two is to not forget rule number one!” Is it just me or does it seem like being one of Heidi’s kids would be all kinds of FUN?!?

While she’s glamorous with a capital G, at the end of the day, Heidi Klum is a real mom just like the rest of us! And on that note…I decided to style an inspiration look based on one of her everyday ensembles. Ms. Klum proves that just because you’re tooling around town with your offspring doesn’t mean you can’t look amazing while you’re doing it!
