Project Runway
Project Runway Episode 5: Fierce Fighting as Designers Create Looks for the Workplace
At first I didn't think I could summon the strength to write about Project Runway today. Because I was truly devastated over Buffi departing last week. I know she deserved to go with her cheetah inspired resort wear look...

But I met Buffi in person and she's darling with that siren song accent! Alas, this is the fashion world Buff, so later lady.
This week was a team challenge which of course every designer hates. They had to create a cohesive line of women's wear for the workplace. Photos of the winning team will appear in a new magazine, Marie Claire at Work.
First they had to choose teams which I can hardly bear to watch because it totally brings me back to 7th grade dodge ball when nobody picked me, mostly because instead of throwing balls at my opponents, I would sit on the wall and daydream about what to name my future children with Shaun Cassidy.
Designer Raul (who for some reason styles his hair after Squiggy from Laverne & Shirley) was picked last by Team 6. Raul was kicked off an earlier show but then brought back after a couple of the other contestants suddenly left because they wanted to become fashion designers on their own terms. You can imagine how weepy this made Tim Gunn.
Now I was feeling sorry for Raul until he immediately demanded that he be allowed to use lace in his outfit because you know how lace is sweeping the American workplace. Or not.
Not only was Raul's passion for lace potential trouble for Team 6 but Elena's anger management issues were in full throttle. As Christopher described it, "I feel like Elena just escaped from the woods. She is an animal right now."
Team 5 seemed to be humming along just fine even though Gunnar wasn't loving their color palette of a purple print, white and black.
The designers had only one day for this challenge and then had to direct a photo shoot of their garments. Elena was ever so helpful on Team 6 barking out things during the shoot like, "She (the model) looks like she is taking a sh*t."
The runway show is always my favorite especially when the judges desperately try to hide their feelings of dismay as they watch some of the sadder outfits walk by. But this gorgeous blue dress, by Melissa on Team 6, turned out to be the winner. LOVE!

Heidi of course wanted to know who was the weakest link on each team. Nobody liked Gunnar's dress.

You know you've done something wrong design wise when the editor of Marie Claire magazine, Joanna Coles, says the model's breasts look like "two puppies wrestling in a sack." Ouch.
But it was Squiggy, I mean, Raul who was kicked to the curb again partly for this top.

Sonjia, who could totally win this competition, made the adorable pencil skirt which I keep hearing every gal needs. (I don't have one.)
Now Raul apparently wanted to leave Project Runway in a super classy way so after the runway show he said to Elena, "I hate your ass" in front of all the other designers.
Can't you just feel the sexual chemistry between those two? I remember when my husband first said those loving words to me. If Raul and Elena end up together, I sure do hope Lifetime gives them a reality show.
