Dance Moms
Secrets, Solos and School Dance Shopping (My Episode 17 Recap)
Hello, Dance Moms addicts! Hope you all are well. I sincerely apologize for my lack of a recap last week. But here are my thoughts on this past episode.
I'm not really even going to spend too much time discussing the pyramid because, frankly, it pretty much is the same every week. Someone's at the top, everyone else isn't, they feel bad about themselves. Repeat. But I will give a shout out to my 2-year-old daughter Clara's, partner in crime, Mackenzie. (They get into soooo much trouble together!) Congrats on the crown! You earned it!
I was excited to hear that Chloe had a solo. There are few things I love more in this world than watching Chloe dance, so I love when she gets the chance. Yay! But I was so offended to hear Abby's theme of Chloe's dance: what goes around comes around because "Chloe needs to learn that her mother is evil and what goes around, comes around." Excuse me? If I'm evil, what is Abby? And if anyone should be worried about karma biting them in the butt, it should be Abby, not Chloe. Chloe is one of the most kindhearted souls I know, so I think she's safe. But I will just consider the source and not put too much thought into such an appalling comment.
Let's discuss something fun! Brooke decided to attend the 8th Grade Farewell Dance and I got to go dress shopping with her and Kelly! Girls day! Brooke looked gorgeous in so many of the dresses (of course) but Kelly and I really tried to steer her to something age appropriate (typical teen battle) and I thought her choice was spot on. It was sweet to share that moment with the two of them because I have been friends with Kelly since Brooke was in preschool, so to see her look so grown up was a little emotional. I still think of all the girls as babies and they are growing up before our very eyes.
Speaking of grown teens, Payton rejoined our group this week, along with Leslie. As soon as she steps foot into a room with the moms, Leslie is on the attack. It's exhausting. I really think she should be an attorney because she loves to argue and have the final word. She (thinks) she is always right and she loves to tell us that Payton deserves to be on the team more than any of the other girls, so that makes for a fun atmosphere.
You know what else makes for a fun atmosphere? When one team member has a super-secret second solo. THAT'S fun. Especially when there are other girls on the team who work hard and can't even get ONE solo. But, at this point, I am so used to all of the underhanded sneaking around, I really wasn't even shocked. I was shocked that we were supposed to believe that was never planned. And that Melissa just happened to have the correct costume with her. Um, I might be a dance mom, but I'm not stupid.
Until next time!
Cheers,
Christi
