Project Runway
Teamwork Trouble & a Night On The Town Look
So, the third Project Runway Season 10 challenge has come and gone and I can’t help but feel that the designers’ worlds were rocked a bit with this one. They were asked to work in teams and design an Emmy gown for former Project Runway alums. Some of them definitely seemed to be able to handle working together and others…not so much.

Raul and Alicia worked incredibly well together, but their rapport didn’t save Raul from elimination. They clearly didn’t share the same aesthetic as their client, Mila, from Season 7 and All Stars and Raul said as much when I chatted with him. When I asked him if he thought the end result would have been different had he been designing for a different client, he responded, “Yes! As soon as I met her, she said people know me as the lady in black. I was constantly thinking that I had to make a black dress. Everything was a mess.” He went on to say that “I think if Mila wasn't my client, I would have been safe. I can't identify myself with her.”
Christopher and Andrea may not have been scared by their client’s taste, but a dream team they did not make. Although, we saw some diva behavior come out of Christopher and Gunnar in the first episode, it was clearly Gunnar who took it to the next level, so I was surprised to see Christopher melt down so much over working with Andrea. I was surprised, but I’m not saying it wasn’t somewhat valid. Considering the time constraints they’re always under, I can imagine it would be uber stressful to wait on someone else to complete a task you feel you could have done much faster. I think that stress definitely came out when Christopher made his feelings known to the judges about working with his teammate after sending former Season 9 winner, Anya, down the runway looking downright dowdy in a sad, dirty brown creation.

During my conversation with Raul, when he was asked if he thought Christopher threw Andrea under the bus, he said, “Yeah. I think so.” That was a route that Raul and Alicia definitely didn’t take. They backed each other, which was a refreshing change of pace. Raul said he decided before coming on the show that he wasn’t going to throw anyone under the bus and he held true to that. I wish we could have seen more from him. I wonder what would have happened had he not listened to Mila and used the printed fabric he was psyched about. Just sayin’.
For this week’s challenge inspired outfit, I decided to style a look based on the winning design. Ven and Fabio created a gorgeous full skirted frock for Season 5 and All Stars contestant Kenley. I just loved the navy and nude color palette that they used, however, I decided to go a bit more on the sexy side with my look…Date night anyone?
