The Dream Team Needs to Wake Up and Pockets for Moms

For the second week in a row on “Project Runway”, the Dream Team totally struggled with the challenge. When given one of the coolest challenges that I’ve seen in a while, because it involved Susan Sarandon who I think is all kinds of AMAZING, they had a wicked hard time working as a cohesive unit. The task at hand was to design server and ball boy uniforms for Ms. Sarandon’s ping pong/bar and restaurant SPin.

The delicate dance that needs to be performed in order to present a cooperative team presence while individually creating strong looks seems to be beyond the Dream Team’s capabilities at this point. Benjamin, in particular, tried to step up and be a leader, but designers like Cindy perceived his “help” as micromanagement. I’m not sure how well I would have reacted to someone following me around like a super annoying shadow either. Haha!

On the other end of the spectrum, Team Keeping it Real was all kumbaya…especially Daniel and Layana. They’re the real Dream Team! Daniel unselfishly taught her his tricks of the trade and she showed genuine appreciation for his help. Now that isn’t something you see every day.  I can see why they won. They’re apron/skort concept was pretty darn cool. I could have used one of those bad boys back in my serving days. Plus, I’m such a sucker for pockets!

I also understand why the judges sent James home. The wow factor just wasn’t there in the looks he presented during his time on Project Runway. The judges ALWAYS loathe being bored. James had this to say about taking the judges’ criticisms to heart… “I did learn something. One of my main things is to maybe reevaluate my surroundings. I live in the south in deep Texas and things are a little more conservative around here. It's a reality check that I really need to remember where I'm at.” Agreed. Competing on "Project Runway" is not exacty the time to play it safe! When I asked him whether he thought the Dream Team had the goods to turn things around, he replied, “I think there are too many chiefs...” A bunch of leader types butting heads doesn’t make for a winning team, that’s for sure.

For this week’s look, I decided to use the winning outfit for inspiration because, as I mentioned, I’m pockets obsessed! Although, I’ll have to wait a while to rock a dress like this myself. I’m still my lil’ lady bean’s milk machine and pockets placed over a large and in charge chest isn’t the most flattering thing in the world, but I digress…
