Project Runway

The DVF Fan Club and an Iconic Look for Moms

If I had to wear one designer for the rest of my life, I would have absolutely no trouble selecting said designer. Diane von Furstenberg would be my choice hands down! I don’t think I will ever get tired of her classic wrap dresses. They’re so versatile and can be dressed up or down a million different ways. So, I was obviously psyched about her being the guest judge on this week’s "Project Runway All Stars" episode!

With the pressure of having someone as iconic as DVF judge their designs, the designers were definitely on edge with this challenge. I’m sure it didn’t help that the competition is winding down and the final challenge is nipping at their heels. They were asked to create a red carpet look with environmentally friendly fabrics and they also had access to their embellishments from previous challenges.

Some of their fabric choices were divine and some a bit more questionable. Laura Kathleen’s printed jumpsuit, for example, was wonderfully unique, especially for a red carpet look and something I would rock in a heartbeat. Althea’s matronly mauve and lavender color palette wasn’t my favorite on the other hand. The judges didn’t enjoy it much either as she was sent home.

On a side note…My favorite line of the night was, “I catch a peek of panty, but who doesn’t love a good panty?” Oh how I love Anthony Ryan’s zingers. And I dug his draped gown as well. It was sexy, yet looked oh so comfy. Is that even possible? It’s magical when those two things can be combined no?

In honor of Ms. Von Furstenberg, I decided to style a look around a wrap dress for my episode inspired outfit. We’re closing in on the holidays and I definitely want to look festive on the regular this month, so I went with a holiday perfect color palette! I’m obsessed with black and gold right now and I’ll forever love being a lady in red. Yeah…Chris de Burgh might have something to do with that. What can I say? I’m a child of the eighties! Lady in Reeeeeeeeeeeed is dancing with me…My sister asked for song requests for her upcoming nuptials and you KNOW I had to put that on my list. I can hear the hubs’ groans already. Speaking of weddings…wouldn’t Uli’s feather adorned creation be such a fun look to rock at a wedding? I’m guessing my sister wouldn’t appreciate it if I traded in my bridesmaid dress huh? Just kidding of course…or am I? Haha!
