The Lone Wolf Attacks and a Pretty Peplum Look for Moms
Were any of you on the edge of your seats watching the “Project Runway” finale last week? I had no idea it was going to be SO dramatic. I would never have expected Stanley to struggle the way he did! He’s been so calm, cool and collected this season. It was shocking to see him so underprepared, no? I mean to have a TON of sewing yet to do on the day of the show? Holy stress attack Batman! I would have expected that more from Patricia. It wasn’t surprising to see that organization isn’t exactly her forte, but Stanley? Wow. Lack of organization seems to be a problem for many artistic types. I must be artistic. Just come on over and take a look at my linen closet. Haha!
Both Stanley and Patricia had pieces that I absolutely loved in their collections. I still covet that horse hair jacket of Patricia’s and I’m SO with Nina about how fabulous that little beaded top of Stanley’s would be with pants. But, in my opinion, Michelle was the clear winner. Her collection was on a whole other level.
I wasn’t surprised by how strong Michelle’s focus was. She’s taken the bull by the horns the entire season, so I expected nothing less than to see her be one hundred percent prepared. She knew what her vision was and she executed it to a tee! Usually it drives me crazy when the designers have no interest in hearing Tim or the judges’ takes on their designs, but for some reason, I couldn’t help but respect Michelle’s confidence. For instance, Tim wasn’t so sure about her bleeding heart sweater and the judges ended up going gaga over it. I mean…It IS pretty killer! What girl wouldn’t feel like a bad arse rockin’ that?!? When I had a chance to speak with Michelle, I asked where she pulled all that strength from and she said, “I was just strong from the beginning . I love what I do and I know who I am.” That much is clear…Wouldn’t you agree?
Although, I was certain even before they showed their collections that Michelle was going to win, I wondered if she was. I asked her as much and she responded, “Not when I was designing my line in Portland because I didn't have much feedback. But when I was packing up my bag and looking around the room, I knew I had it.” I’m certainly glad she did have it and I know I’m not the only one! I’m really looking forward to following Michelle’s career. I have a feeling we’re going to see some really exciting things come from her!
And the fun isn’t quite over…We still have the reunion special to look forward to! When I questioned Michelle about the apparent fireworks that are headed our way she had this to say… “Some adults don't know how to grow up and get over things.” I can’t wait to see what that’s all about! Just sayin’.
I absolutely adored Michelle’s mustard peplum top, so I used that as my inspiration for today’s summer-ready look!
