Project Runway

The Mean Girls and a Black & White Look for Moms

Was Thursday night’s episode of “Project Runway” rough to watch our what? While it was full of eye candy, courtesy of the Thunder from Down Under boys, there wasn’t much else that was pretty to look at!

I’m no tailor, but I get that menswear can be more difficult to sew than women’s clothing. So, I wasn’t overly shocked that the designers struggled with designing looks for those beefcakes, but I didn’t really seen the EPIC crash and burn that went down coming.

With the stress of a challenge that they weren’t really up to, came some nastiness and much of it came from the bottom scoring team. The Layana, Amanda and Richard grouping was definitely no dream team. The girls just did not click with Richard and clearly felt that his aesthetic could go tacky fast. When they were standing before the judges, they let it be known that they thought Richard was the weakest link on their team.

In the end, it was Amanda’s time to go and when I caught up with her, she shared her thoughts on why there was so much contention and her label as a “mean girl.” She had this to say about the bickering…”At this point in the season, we were all getting so tired. We were all in danger and everyone was just trying to cover their butts. That  makes people lash out and get really defensive.”

And as for her, Layana and Michelle being mean girls, she said, “I think it’s hilarious because I’ve never been referred to as a mean girl in my life. I do tend to gravitate to people that are a little more aggressive or confidant than I am. They were my bulldogs. And we were always having a fun time, so maybe there was a little jealousy.” It will be interesting to watch the other two without Amanda. They were quite the trio!

On a side note…Amanda is back, hard at work as a stylist which I can totally see because I loved how she dressed herself on the show!

I decided to use the black and white that dominated the episode in this "Project Runway" inspired outfit. Black and white is on trend for spring and the straw details on the tote and espadrille wedges really soften up the look and make it warm weather perfect! Who’s ready for warm weather!??

Outfit Details: shopper bag, maxi dress, stud bracelet, espadrille wedges
