What Goes Around, Comes Around (My Episode 7, Season 3 Recap)

Every week the tensions continue to mount at the Abby Lee Dance Studio and this week was no exception.  It was a roller coaster of emotions - up and down! First Christi and Chloe were missing from our “pyramid” assembly.  I was shocked when Abby announced that they were on a one-week suspension.  I was sad to see the word “suspended” written across Chloe’s photograph.  This was followed by the good news that Brooke was back on the team! Also on the up side - Nia and Paige were given a duet and appeared delighted at the chance to perform together!

When Nia started to complain about a throbbing pain in her foot I was naturally concerned since I hadn’t noticed any injury during rehearsal.  It was important to determine whether Nia had an injury that required treatment and Abby shared that concern.  The good news was that Nia was given the okay to dance! Nia is not limited by RND.  Nia loves dancing - it is part of who she is, not simply what she does.  Dance is inspirational and motivational if you love it. Dancing is an integral part of Nia’s being.  Nia’s dancing is a tribute to her resiliency and victorious spirit - she is used to challenges!

Abby’s pulling the duet was not justified and unfair to both Paige and Nia. Being a good mom apparently has consequences when dealing with Abby.  I viewed Abby’s remarks as insensitive and uninformed we had a verbal exchange.  Abby’s response was puzzling! Why did she really pull the duet?  Was it done as a whim, out of spite or just because she could?  Whatever the reason, it was classic Abby and also an abuse of power!

Still - although I knew it was a long shot, I thought I would be the bigger person and ask Abby to reconsider letting the girls compete.  It was frustrating to see her ignore my child’s tears and pleas to perform and compete.  Sometimes the only thing you get out of doing the right thing is the knowledge that you did it and I’m okay with that!

When Cathy and Abby had their fight, I stayed out of it.  I had already had my fill of drama!  Abby’s fight with Cathy quickly escalated and in no time Abby was crying to her mother.  (See how important moms are!) Abby had no problem dishing it out to little girls but when the tables were turned and a colleague lashed out at her, she was a puddle of tears. I think justice was served- apparently what goes around does come around!  At first, all I could think was, “Save your tears for your pillow, Abby!”  Still, I couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for her. She is after all the head of the ALDC team and at the end of the day we are still our own unique kind of family!
