Army Wives
What You Don’t Know About Army Wives: The Softer Side of Colonel Joan Burton
There are a few words that come to mind when describing Colonel Joan Burton; disciplinarian, courageous and overbearing at times. Joan brings her military role home with her and it works in the sense of being the tough one. But one thing I am sure you didn’t know is that Wendy Davis is the complete opposite of Colonel Joan Burton.

I recently sat down to chat with Wendy Davis about playing a female service member, and how she differs from her character.
Did you know that…
- Wendy was never one for discipline. She never thought about joining the military since it was something she knew she could not do. “I was the typical ADHD kid, running, jumping couldn't settle down. I was a day dreamer and really struggled in school because I was never interested in mathematics, science - until it was time to cut the frog, then I was interested. Acting is what helped me to find my focus in life.”
- Wendy considers herself as a pushover mom and very much unorganized when compared to Joan. “Last night I told my daughter to go to bed at 8:30 pm and at 10 pm she was still awake. Joan would never have this in her world, Joan is very tunnel visioned and I am not like that at all. If I could have Joan in my life for maybe 5 hours a week to manage the bills and get my desk together, that would be amazing. I would love to have her!”
- Wendy Davis loves horses; in fact she shares this love with her daughter Kobi, who is 9 years old. For Christmas Wendy surprised her daughter with a horse of her own. Kobi worked very hard for this special gift by doing well in school, helping around the house with chores and having good manners. Watch the special surprise below, that Wendy made and shared with us!
In the seventh season of Army Wives you will witness a remarkable group of women - some familiar and some new. You will watch them form friendships and see them through the challenges of Army life including a heartfelt and final goodbye to one of their own.
"Army Wives" returns on Sunday, March 10th at 9/8c. only on Lifetime!
