When Moms Attack (My Season 3, Episode 31 Recap)
Everything happens for a reason. While I loved working with an all-boys team (especially since it had Abby shaking in her bloomers), I ultimately felt that the dads, boys and even the moms of the boys didn’t have the allegiance that I require. I need parents who are spunky enough to take on the moms of Pittsburgh. Moms who can handle what is slung at them. And the moms that I have now are NOT going to take it – we are going to go to battle with an army!
While I have my united front taken care of, things are a little shaky with our choreographer. Anthony definitely had some input when it came to deciding who was on the team, but at the end of the day, it’s my decision and he needs to understand that. Anthony is someone who needs to learn his place and mind his Ps and Qs. He’s a bit of a diva – even more so when he’s acting out in front of the other moms. They respect me and my ability to take things to the next level and I think Anthony is intimidated by that. When they are invited into the studio to watch rehearsals, he embellishes his behavior and it comes across as rude and over the top. He needs to understand that you attract more bees with honey. If the moms were looking to get berated, they could have gone to ALDC for that type of treatment!
With that said, Anthony is very talented and I can’t understand why people are constantly on my case about hiring a guest choreographer for my studio. It is done all the time – I have been approached on many occasions by choreographers who want to work for me and NOT for Abby! I think I have a great creative reputation and I am known for treating people right. As one acquaintance observed, “Your (my) perseverance is what gains you (me) respect”. I think that sums it up nicely.
I was disappointed in the results of the competition – and I wasn’t alone. The team and many of our fans were shocked that our group dance came in third – not even a tops honors. I was especially annoyed because last season I got a lot of flak for using older dancers and now ALDC shows up with a seventeen year old Payton dancing on the same stage with little Asia. I also didn’t understand the whole water theme from the ALDC dance. My team is slowly learning that it’s tough to beat celebrities but the Apple Core dancers are celebrities too.
Things got heated at the end when we came to congratulate ALDC on their win. Anthony’s mom was upset because she overheard Abby and the gang making comments about her son during the competition. They crossed the line and she didn’t take too kindly to it – she was just trying to be supportive of her baby.
It’s anyone’s game next week!
