I Hate It When Guys Pull Chick Moves.
Now, I don't like to swim in gender stereotypes, but there is definitely a stereotypical idea that women are the ones who do crazy, emotional and vengeful things when they are jilted. It is women, we are taught to believe, who key cars, famously bust the windows out your car (and sing the Jazmine Sullivan song while they do it) and use our innate creativity to come up with new and exciting ways to make a man rue the day he broke up with us.
That's the expectation. And there is some truth to it.
But there are a whole lotta men who are apparently even more capable of so-called chick moves (I actually call them b**ch moves). I thought I was the only one experiencing this. But apparently others have had it equally as bad with jilted men acting like love-sick, evil, irrational jilted women.
Recently, a 32-year-old Portland man was so upset that his girlfriend dumped him, he went on Craigslist and created advertisements under the ex-girlfriend's name telling men to come to her house for sex parties. The ads were pretty explicit, and included her name, address and phone number and in a few hours, there were men banging on her door hoping to come inside and continue the banging.
A few years ago, an ex threatened to break into the database where viewers sign up to receive my blog notifications and newsletters and start sending out mean and dirty messages about me. What? Do guys do this?
Another guy broke into my Facebook account, oh and yet a third somehow put a spyware app on my cell phone to track my location and monitor my calls and text messages.
I know you are thinking that I sure do know how to pick men and that I should start writing the dating advice column here instead, but I swear to all of you that all of these men looked normal, were gainfully employed and were super sweet individuals until things went sour.
I'm just sayin'.
It's time to stop categorizing women as the only ones capable of doing irrational and evil things post-breakup. Too many men are doing worse.
What's the most insane thing an ex-boyfriend did to you post-breakup?
