Memphis Coach Blames NCAA Violation on His Pregnant Wife
Josh Pastner, head coach at the University of Memphis has got to be the biggest idiot currently living in the state of Tennessee. Last Tuesday night, Pastner sent a tweet from the team's official Twitter account that simply said "Tony Parker". It was deleted a few minutes later, but the mistake was made.
Who is Tony Parker? Well, I'm not much of a college basketball fan, but apparently Tony Parker is a highly-coveted recruit for the University of Memphis. The NCAA clearly prohibits coaches from publicly discussing unsigned recruits like Parker, so basically Pastner received a violation for his errant tweet.
That's not the part that makes him an idiot. This next part is.
I'm sure there are a number of reasons that Pastner could have chosen to blame his tweet on who he did, or hey, maybe he could have even taken responsibility and said "It was an accident but I totally screwed up, and I'm sorry". But instead Pastner blamed the violation on his wife who is currently pregnant with their second child.
Pastner was quoted in saying,
"My wife was yelling at me because I was on the phone too loud. I was waking (the couple's infant daughter) up and waking my wife up because I had the TV on. She was complaining that I not only woke my daughter up, but I also woke the baby inside her up because she's pregnant.
So I was waking everybody up, I was getting yelled at and on top of that I was thinking, 'What's going on with recruiting?' and 'Who am I going to hire?' and I made a mistake."
Are you kidding me? How old is this man? Surely old enough to take responsibility for his actions! It seems like men have been using this excuse since Adam first thought of it in the Garden of Eden (It's not my fault God - this woman you put here with me gave me the fruit!). I mean, c'mon - we all know how that story turned out.
Man up Pastner. If you can run a college basketball team, surely you can handle a pregnant woman asking you to take your phone call in the other room at 11 pm while she is trying to sleep.
Yelling? Oh I bet he is learning all about what it means to be yelled at now.
How would you feel if this was your husband?
