2012 MamaScopes: Leo

Want to make an impact in 2012, Leo? Put your opinions and ideas front and center, and let the world hear what you have to say…on loudspeaker! If you’ve ever thought about running for office, whether it’s secretary of your local community board, PTA president, or even city council, this is your year. A promotion or a leadership opportunity at your job is also possible, so keep your eyes and ears open for opportunities, especially at larger or more established companies. Never saw yourself working for a mega-corporation? That could change.

All this time in the public eye could mean that you have less time at home and with your kids—make sure their daycare is shipshape if they’re young, or that you’ve arranged for a babysitter when they’re home from school. Coordinate your schedule so that certain hours are non-negotiable; in other words, there’s work time and family time…and there’s no mixing the two! If you need support, don’t hesitate to ask your husband, your family, or even your friends to give you a helping hand.

As your work picks up, so may your love life, Leo! An eclipse in Sagittarius on June 4 could bring a potential mate into your midst if you’re single, or if you’re in a committed relationship, another pregnancy could be on the way. Fall in love with yourself this year, and get more in touch with your sensuality. Ever thought about taking a belly dancing or burlesque class? Not only will you pick up some sexy moves, but you’ll get a workout to boot. Now’s also a great time for some healing around past heartbreak. Single moms might have to finally forgive and forget, and if you’re married or in a relationship, it’s time to nix those comparisons to past lovers from your mind. Get in the present, and learn from (instead of dwelling upon) long-ago relationships. Even though you’ll both be extremely busy this year, make time for your significant other…especially if it’s become all about the kids as of late. Drop off the little ones at Grandma and Grandpa’s, and finally take that romantic getaway you’ve been talking about for months. The more intimate you can make your together time, the better.

Keep your body AND mind in shape with yoga and meditation in 2012, Leo. Download some meditations by Terri Cole and get an energy makeover from Lara Licharowicz of LaraVita. Try an invigorating workout DVD like IntenSati by Leo fitness instructor Patricia Moreno. Having an outlet for your stress is extremely important this year, so prevent burnout symptoms before they can begin. The end of the year, especially during the holidays, could get extremely busy for you—watch how much you take on during the course of the year so that you’re not swamped by November. Things could get especially hard to balance at home and with your family, so create the structures you need to manage your household: join a mothers’ group or create your own! Post your schedule and that of your family’s in a prominent place—that way, you’ll never forget when your daughter’s science test is, or when your husband takes off for that business trip.

While you might be consumed with work and family life, it’s important not to forget your friends, Leo. You’re as social as they come…it’s just a matter of finding the time! Here’s a hint: mix business and pleasure. If you like the people you work with, why not spend time with them outside of the office? Invite them over to for family time, or even go on a double date.
