The 411: "Patricia Cornwell's At Risk" Premieres Saturday, April 10 on Lifetime
Before I launch into my latest TV review, I have a confession to make. When it comes to television movies, I usually am a sucker for tear jerkers and romantic comedies. Typically, when I curl up with one of my sappy films, my husband leaves the room. But this time around, he stayed. Why do you ask? Simple. When we sat down to watch "Patricia Cornwell's At Risk," the new Lifetime Original Movie based on the novella by #1 New York Times best-selling novelist Cornwell, we were riveted by the twists, turns and non-stop action.
Andie MacDowell and Annabeth Gish star in this adrenalin pumping movie, along with the disarmingly handsome Daniel Sunjata. MacDowell, who is best known for endearing roles (loved her in "Four Weddings and a Funeral"), steps completely out of character to portray Monique "Money" Lamont, a tough as nails, ambitious and deceptive district attorney who's hell bent on unseating the current governor. In a ploy she believes will drive popularity to her campaign, Money enlists state investigator Win Garano to re-open and solve a 30 year old cold case involving the heinous murder of an elderly woman.
As Win contemplates taking on the case, Money's own life is placed in jeopardy when a revenge seeking ex-con tries to set her house on fire (with her in it). Meanwhile, Win is also concerned that his fortune telling grandmother (played by Diahann Carroll) could be at risk too, so he hides her away at his apartment and then she disappears! Plus, Win's partner in the investigation, Sykes (played by Annabeth Gish) begins to unravel the mystery behind the woman's murder and discovers a massive cover-up. And for all of us hung up on romance - there's a bit of that too as Sykes pines for Win even though he's completely clueless in the relationship department.
If you're a fan of "CSI" and "Cold Case" then you will love "Patricia Cornwell's At Risk." The film brings together the best of both crime dramas along with an incredibly talented cast that'll have you on the edge of your seat!
"Patricia Cornwell's At Risk" premieres Saturday, April 10 on Lifetime at 9 pm ET/PT.
Then, the following week, Money Lamont and Win Garana return in "The Front," a second suspense filled movie based on Cornwell's best-selling books.
