Back to School Means Back to TV!!!
The school orientations are officially behind us, the kids are knee deep in homework, exams are right around the corner and for me, that can only mean one thing...my favorite TV shows are about to return to the airwaves!!! From "Glee," to "Dancing with the Stars" to new series and movies I've got my eye on, I don't know if I'll ever get off the sofa again!
HAPPINESS IS...GLEE!!!
The Primetime Emmys (which featured one of my favorite "Glee" stars, Jane Lynch) kicked off a new season of TV. While "Glee" didn't clean up at the the awards show, my daughter and I are very excited for the start of the season and the chance to see Rachel, Finn, Puckerman, Brittney, Kyle and the rest of the Gleeks back together again. And here's hoping that my favorite guest stars from last year, Kristen Chenoweth and Gweneth Paltrow return to high school for a command performance. "Glee" premieres on Fox on September 20 at 8 pm ET/PT.
GO RICKI! DANCING WITH THE STARS RETURNS!
As a huge #DWTS fan (that Dancing with the Stars for those of you who don't tweet during the show), I was over the moon to find out that one of my favorite former talk show stars, Ricki Lake was competing in the show. Full disclosure - I was a publicist for Ricki's show a milion years ago so I will always be a lifelong fan. After her show ended, Ricki moved her family to Los Angeles and has successfully built a new career for herself as a documentary film producer and home birth advocate. And next year, she'll be kicking off a brand new talk show - but before that, America will get to see Ricki strut her stuff and I will be cheering and tweeting her on, every step of the way. The show premieres September 19 at 8 pm ET/PT on ABC.
COME FLY AWAY WITH "PAN AM"
Maybe it's those 50's style flight attendant uniforms, or that I've always loved Christina Ricci, but I can't wait to see the new ABC series "Pan Am" which takes you back to the hey day of the famed airline. I still remember the one and only time I flew Pan Am as a teen when my family was unexpectedly upgraded to first class on a flight to Italy. While it turned out to be one of the few times I was treated like airplane royalty, it truly was one of the most memorable flights ever. While today's flight experiences consist of blue chips, a movie screen and wifi access, it'll be fun to go back in time to the good old days of flying when Pan Am premieres September 25 at 10 pm ET/PT on ABC.
LIFETIME MOVIES FOR ME
My fall TV roster would not be complete without a juicy Lifetime movie. And coming up this fall are two films with major A-listers that I can't wait to see!
The first is "Girl Fight," premiering Monday, October 3, 9:00pm ET/PT and stars Anne Heche (Hung) and James Tupper (Grey's Anatomy). Inspired by a true story, "Girl Fight" shares the harrowing story of a 16-year-old, stellar high school student whose life spirals downward when a shocking video of her getting beat up by her former friends surfaces on the Internet. I think I'll be watching this movie with my middle schooler, who's on the verge of getting a Facebook account and texting non-stop with friends.
YOU HAD ME AT JEN AND DEMI...
Coming up in October is Five, directed by Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, Alicia Keys, Penelope Spheeris and Patty Jenkins. Featuring an all-star ensemble cast, the film debuts on October 10 at 9:00pm ET/PT with an anthology of five short films exploring the impact of breast cancer on people’s lives. "Five" uses humor and drama to focus on the effect breast cancer and its different stages of diagnosis have on relationships and the way women perceive themselves while searching for strength, comfort, medical breakthroughs and, ultimately, a cure.
There are plenty more shows on my TV and DVR viewing radar - including "Parenthood," "The Good Wife," "Desperate Housewives," "X Factor," "Up All Night" and "New Girl," not to mention the season finale of "Project Runway!" Something tells me my fall TV season is going to be filled with lots of laughter, excitement and tears. Someone get me a tissue because I can't wait to start watching some great 'Me Time" TV!!!
