Five Celebrities We Are Ready To Say Goodbye To In 2012
While I'm the first to admit I've been swept up in the nonsense that is the 72 day union of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries I know that our society would fare far better if certain celebs and their faux news stories would no longer garner the buzz we've permitted and even encouraged them to. I'm thinking perhaps less air time for Kim K.'s derriere will free up the airwaves for more newsworthy stories like the state of health care, poverty and other issues Americans are grappling with on a daily basis. Don't get me wrong- while I love to poke fun at celebs' pseudo misfortunes-- I'm convinced it's a vicious news cycle that needs to stop with us. Or, at the very least, we need to stop publicizing CERTAIN celebs who have had more than their close-up and are now just full out getting on my nerves.
It’s time to say goodbye to these celebs and make room for, if not more real news, then at least a gaggle of new celebrity headlines. So without further ado, here are five celebrities I am more than ready to bid adieu to as we head into 2012.

ANY celebrity who is endorsing a WEIGHT loss regimen or product (a few that come to mind- Jennifer Hudson for Weight Watchers and Mariah Carey for Jenny Craig). Why you ask am I begrudging these women who are parading around the tube with their brand spanking new bodies- telling all of us couch watching women that the way to attain their bodies is by following their lead? Because I'm calling their bluff. These women are celebrities so in addition to any diets they're on they're also privy to services that us regular folk are not-- expensive personal trainers, personal chefs and well, you get the gist of it. To say that Mrs. Jones subsisting on a teacher’s salary in Iowa, can afford and has the means to stick to either one of these regimens, when she's the sole provider for her family, has five mouths to feed, barely any time in the day to do anything other than care for her kids, make it to work and back--the results she will yield in the same three month period as these celebrities will be VASTLY different. To these weight loss brands I say, show us some REAL, middle class moms who are juggling so many balls in the air- and how they can lose weight.

Lindsay Lohan. She has proven to us time and again her life is a train wreck. No amount of stints in jail or rehab will put her together again. And then she does a Playboy spread, in one last pathetic attempt to revive a career that has all but collapsed under the weight of all her self-destructive behaviors. I say girlfriend needs to leave Hollywood and regroup- out of the harsh spotlight of rag magazines and vulture paparazzi just waiting to catch her screwing up. She needs to distance herself from her entourage of hangers on and maybe then she can resurrect that girl we all fell in love with in Mean Girls.

Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore. Personally I just feel bad for the former Mrs. Kutcher. She was kind of like a rock star to so many over 40 year old women in her cougaresque relationship with the substantially younger Ashton Kutcher proving that age does not make women older it makes them wiser, sexier and capable of treading in waters previously reserved for older men. Of course none of us can fathom what it’s like to maintain a relationship amid the glare of constant speculation and in Hollywood, where Mr. Kutcher has women by the bus loads willing and able to do anything to lure him away from his marital vows. I just think Demi deserves her privacy and the opportunity to rise from the shadows of this marriage, more resilient and hotter than ever. Regardless of what took this marriage down, she will forever be a rock star to me- for proving that older women still got it.

Lady Gaga. The meat dress, her minions of copy-cat monsters, her over the top antics--don't get me wrong I think it's great that she champions anti-bullying legislation, but if she stripped down her outlandish persona- would her music still resonate with her legion of loyalists? I prefer a singer whose work speaks for itself, who doesn’t need all the pomp and circumstance to gain notoriety. I'd much rather my kids see a performer gain fame and fortune more so for their unadulterated talent than their contrived image. She's also reportedly a spoiled diva- who treats her staff like servants, another quality I find less than appealing.
And of course... THE KARDASHIANS. Really I think we know enough about this brood to last a lifetime. I don't need to see them sitting on a toilet, playing with sex toys, waxing each others vajajays and all their other in your face, we are leaving no stone unturned for the cameras antics, because we want to make sure to cling to our 15 minutes of fame. I'll give them that they've taken the art of releasing a sex tape and capitalizing on it to the hilt- but K-clan-- your 15 minutes are more than done. And this mega hyped Kim Kardashian wedding fiasco and resulting divorce after a mere 72 days, has many of us wondering if all of it was and is, just a highly stylized stunt.
So, which celebs are you hoping don’t get any more face time in 2012?
