Five Great Gift Ideas for Tweens

Black Friday is just around the corner and my kids have already started dropping hints with their grandparents about which gifts they're hoping to receive this year.  Once you have a tween, it's much easier to just ask them what they'd like and while some requests may be out of control, hopefully, with these options, you can please the tween in your life.  

1.  Cozy Winter Boots -  My daughter's holiday gift must-have item is a pair of Uggs boots.  Yes, they are expensive - which is why we only buy them once a year.  Plus, we usually ask the grandparents to chip in on this pricey item so that they know they've given her what she wants and it'll definitely be worn throughout the year.   This year, you can even pick up a pair of Uggs in a lovely shade of purple.  I think I need to ask someone to buy me a pair too!

2.  A Brand Spankin' New Cell Phone -  I find it quite curious that my daughter is suddenly experiencing problems with her phone just as the holidays are approaching.  This year, she's hoping for a brand new Samsung phone that flips open and has a touch screen.  Whlle she'd really love an iPhone, this is definitely an affordable option.

3.  A Chinchilla -  She can't get a dog (my husband is allergic) and we already have two cats, two hamsters and two hermit crabs.  So what's missing?  Simple - a furry creature that is so unbelievably soft, that its relatives have been turned into coats.  Now that wearing fur is frowned upon, my daughter would rather bring home a chinchilla and add to our animal menagerie.

4.  Nintendo 3DS - This is actually a vote from my son who is almost a tween.  We've had the DSi and the regular DS but there's something about seeing Mario in 3D that has my son intrigued. He's already placed his Nintendo 3DS order with his grandparents so hopefully, he'll finally get the chance to find out for himself what all the 3D hoopla is all about.

5.  A Digital Camera - This year, my daughter is begging us for a Nikon 1 - a camera that she saw Ashton Kutcher hawking on TV.  Unfortunately for her, the starting price is more than $600 so we'll be shopping for something a little more affordable.  I'm thinking the Nikon Coolpix is more up her alley - easy, affordable, lightweight and it takes great pictures.
