Dance Moms
Get Fierce: My Episode 1 Recap (Dance Mom Brigette)
I often feel like I am treated differently because my child is a boy. While I understand that girls generally start dance at a very young age and this is their life dream, I think there are moms who don’t like a little boy coming into their dance world and beating their child. There are also many rumors and/or sayings in the dance world that boys get special treatment. I really can't say if that is true or not. I think Victor and Angel treat and train all their students equally. The fact that Victor is close with Lucas does not mean anyone else goes without.
When Victor and Angel told Lucas that being cute isn’t enough, I think they were just using "tough" love. They want him to always work to his full potential. I didn’t mind because I tell Lucas the same thing, too.
Lucas generally does not have confidence issues but I think he may have been a bit nervous since this was his first duet ever in life. There may have been some awkwardness too since he was lifting a girl for the first time. I know he felt extremely bad when Kimmy fell on her head during practice. Perhaps that gave him a few moments of doubt. But he ended up pulling it off!
I think the duet was absolutely stunning! I loved it! I find the tango to be a mature dance and they looked like two little miniature adults up there on stage dancing their hearts out with passion. Again, it was new and unknown, but obviously he was confident enough to pull it off onstage and win first place. Kimmy and Lucas are both very dedicated to the art of dance and when on stage, they perform to their fullest.
What happened off stage is a whole different story. When I suggested that Victor go the hospital, it was because I thought he looked really sick and simply needed to be cared for. Mayra seemed to feel it was nobody's business and took offense saying she knew how to take care of her own son. Although nobody, including myself, said otherwise. It wasn’t about Mayra. Victor was lying on the floor helpless. It was horrible and not a place for him to be or for the kids to see. He had been sick for a few days at this point and was not improving at all.
I believe the other moms think I’m a bitch because I say it like it is. I'm open and honest and some people just don't like to hear it. I guess that is where the saying "the truth hurts" comes from. Bottom line, I just always end up being the one to verbally express what others are also thinking. But in the end I guess I get flack for it.
