Meet the New Diva of Comedy...Sherri Shepherd!

I don't know about you, but whenever fall rolls around, I become giddy. Not because my kids are back in school.  And not because I love wearing cozy sweaters and boots (love Audrey's post about boot shopping BTW), but mostly because I am the ultimate couch potato and a slave to my favorite TV series. The fall means all my guilty-pleasure shows are back on the air, and I've already gotten sucked into a few new series that have my friends and I buzzing on our daily commute.  And now, just when I thought I had my TV viewing schedule all set, along comes a new show from Lifetime that, I have to say, is one of my favorite new comedies of the season!

SherRi is a brand new sitcom starring comedienne, actress and "The View" co-host Sherri Shepherd, who stars as Sherri Robinson, a devoted wife and mother who catches her handsome husband (played by Malcolm-Jamal Warner) cheating on her with a sandwich girl from Quiznos (Sherri affectionately calls her the "Quiz-ho").  As Sherri struggles to start over while pursuing her passion - she's an actress who's appeared on "30 Rock," but her true source of income comes from her day job as a paralegal - she finds herself sparring with an uptight boss, adjusting to life as a single mom, and dipping her toe into the dating scene, with sometimes disastrous and hilarious results. I have to say, I found myself laughing out loud throughout the show and really loved how the ensemble cast clicked - right from that very first episode.

The talented cast also includes James Avery (remember him from "Fresh Prince of Bel Air"?), who plays Sherri's cantankerous and over-protective dad and Kali Rocha, who plays Sherri's unpredictable spinster boss.  The series premiered this Monday, but if you missed it, you can check out the first episode over at MyLifetime.com.   Trust me, once you watch it, you'll be making an appointment to tune in for an entire season of SherRi!
