Just for Me

Writing a Love Letter To Yourself!

When’s the last time you wrote a love letter?  Or how about just a letter?   Who needs a pen and paper when you have your phone or your ipad right?  I think there is something about the written word or a hand written note.  It’s making me sound very archaic, but I think we need to keep letters alive. I have to admit I haven’t written a letter, especially a love letter in ages.

So this Valentine’s Day I may just write a love letter.  Not just to my husband, but to me.  That’s right how about writing a love letter to yourself?

When is the last time you’ve taken time to thank yourself or appreciate what you go through in a day? I know, who has time to do that when you are just trying to get through the day sometimes.  So this month I challenge you to take some time for yourself.  Sit down and write.

What positive things would you say to yourself if you were somebody else? What do you appreciate about yourself?  What are you proud of?  What makes you laugh?  Is there something you want to say to yourself?

Maybe it’s a way to see your life from a different perspective.  To tell yourself I understand you and know you.  If you’ve been facing some challenges, maybe it’s to appreciate how far you’ve come or to see where you need support.  If you’ve accomplished a goal, maybe it’s way to say, “Congratulations I’m proud of you!”  We have so many voices in our head sending so many messages why not send the ones we really need and want to hear.  Sometimes it’s hard to see yourself clearly until you step outside of yourself.

I know it may sound kind of corny, but I’m going to give it a try.   I will find some beautiful stationery and write a nice hand written note.  You can mail it to yourself for Valentine’s Day, have someone else mail it for you and have it arrive as a surprise or you may just want to keep it in your drawer and turn to it when you need it.

So here’s to you and here’s to me!
