Clean Start Challenge: Zakiyyah’s Personal Sanctuary
Do you have a personal sanctuary?
This can be as simple as a quiet corner or as elaborate as an entire room for personal refuge.
For the first SCJ Clean Start Mini-Challenge, Glade encouraged the four contestants to create personal sanctuaries. Zakiyyah, my buddy, transformed her guest room into a personal refuge; a place to escape from “bad habits”.
Check out her video of how she gave the space a fresh new look. The room is a perfect place for her to focus on her goals:
• Losing weight for her upcoming June Wedding
• Getting her finances on track
How can a personal sanctuary help with finances?
As a busy mom who recently lost her job, Zakiyyah needs a space to be inspired. It is all too easy to become depressed over a situation like this. Having a soothing place to reflect and refocus on goals is an essential step.
Having that inviting room in her home will also reduce the desire to go out and spend money. A key factor in saving on food and entertainment expenses is to simply stay home. She can also save money on a gym membership by utilizing the exercise equipment in her room.
Zakiyyah used coupons and shopped at Walmart to create the transformation. She spent a total of $88 for everything, including paint, décor and accessories. I am so proud!
I love how she added Glade scented oil candles to her sanctuary as well for that extra soothing touch. Did you know there are always generous coupons for Glade products?
Check out my coupon database and search for Glade to see where to find them.
One tip I might add is to post financial goals in the room. Instead of hiding from financial woes, use visuals to inspire and motivate change. Perhaps using a visual to pay off debt would help.
Zakiyyah is off to a great start in the challenge. Please join me in supporting her by watching her SCJ Clean Start Challenge videos and voting every day for your chance to win $1000!
