Bathing Kids Together: Yea or Nay?
Every evening, as a part of our getting the kids ready for bed ritual, my husband and I bathe our children in the same tub (we have a 5 year old boy and a 2 year old girl). The kids splash each other, they splash me, I pretend to get mad and a good time is had by all.
But lately, my curious little toddler has been getting a bit…grabby, shall we say. Basically, she keeps trying to yank by son’s penis off. She’s fascinated by it – she doesn’t have one, he does, I totally get it. More often than not, she makes a go for it and he jumps out of the way and they both end up screaming with laughter.
But when I mentioned it to another mom, she gave me one of those “that’s so funny... no actually, it’s kind of weird and maybe you shouldn’t continue bathing them together” looks.
I’m kind of on the fence. Despite getting soaked from head to toe, I enjoy this pre-bedtime activity. And while I know that we’ll have to move away from it eventually, I consider it good clean (HA) fun for now.
At what ages did you stop doubling up your kids in the bathtub?
