Fall is in the Air
I simply love this time of year –the crisp, cool air; leaves changing from green to shades of gold and red; shorter days; hot apple cider and the sweet aroma of pumpkin spice; blankets and sweaters being pulled out of cupboards and boxes... Ahhh, Fall!
As the days become cool, and we’re finally set in our school routine, I like to add a bit of Autumn joy to each of our days. This may mean a brisk walk on a cool afternoon, all bundled up to stay warm, or even cuddling up to color some fun Fall-themed coloring pages.
One of our most favorite Fall activities, however, is spending an afternoon baking. The kiddos and I could spend hours in the kitchen, using all of our senses, as we create delectable sweet-smelling treats. Punkin’ Cake and Caramel Corn are our favorite Fall goodies.
I like to use these teachable moments to reinforce math skills, team work, and practice following directions accurately. Reaping the benefits of an afternoon in the kitchen compares to no other, especially when we can spend the fun time learning inconspicuously!
