I say, Let Life Happen
Are you a mom who must have everything planned out? Do you like to know that you can expect everything to happen at a certain time, from breakfast to bedtime? Or, are you like me and go with the flow, put Junior down for a nap when he gets tired, and have dinner ready at a different time each night?
I could be obsessed with a rigid schedule dictating our every move, but instead I've decided to cut down on the stress in my life (and ultimitely my children's lives) and save myself from pulling out my hair. I am, however, teaching my children the importance of a routine, all the while providing for flexibilty. After all, life doesn't always happen the way you plan it.
I am often asked about what our day looks like, as a large family of which lots of little ones are members. If I were to lay it out for you it would look much like any other family's, I suppose. We have our morning routine, our school routine, our afternoon routine, and our bedtime routine, and each day these routines look a little bit different. I steer clear of planning out every hour of our day, because I simply want to let life happen.
Now, I completely understand some families' need for strict schedules. I am not in any way trying to say that my go-with-the-flow kind of way is better, but I know there is a balance somewhere in there. I guess what I'm really sayin' is, life with my six kids is simply too unpredictable for schedules.
