“What is 'me time'?” you may ask.
Well, I used to think that setting aside time alone was an impossibility. With six kids, all of whom I teach at home and are with me all day long, a heavy work load, a husband to keep happy and a household to maintain, something’s gotta give. Let me tell you, it can’t be me or nothing else will run smoothly.
"If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy."
There is certainly truth to that old saying, and I’d love to give you three simple – and attainable – ways to get in some 'me time' to make a mama happy :
Draw yourself a bubble bath Light some candles, grab your favorite magazine or that novel that you’ve been dying to read, and lock the bathroom door. Daddy can manage with the kids for a half an hour, right?
Go shopping by yourself Even a trip to the grocery store, ALONE, can help clear your mind, even if it’s not the most glamorous night out!
Organize a girls’ night out If Daddy can manage with the kids for more than just a half an hour, ask him to watch the kiddos for an evening, call your girlfriends and have them meet you for a movie - or just dessert. A night out with the girls may be just what you need.
It's important for your husband to realize just how much you need that 'me time,' even if it's only a half an hour a week. Explain to him how the stresses of life can wear you down, but some time alone can make you yourself again!
