What To Do With The Kids On New Year’s
Are you planning a Rockin’ New Year’s Eve, complete with the boppy and the remote? Having kids doesn’t mean that you can’t get the good times rolling at home on New Year’s Eve. Call me a good ole’ fuddy duddy but I would feel cruddy when the New Year came in and I wasn’t with my kids. Even if you want to go out on New Year’s Eve trying to find a good sitter can be like trying to get into a hot club that night without paying a gazillion dollars cover charge.
So what can you do for Auld Lang Syne my dear? Here are some great ideas for celebrating the New Year with the kids.
- 2 for 1: Dance! Dancing the night away will not only have you and your kids laughing cause’ you know you will probably do the Running Man at least 3 times it will also help kick the New Year off with some great exercise. If you have it break out the Wii or Play Station and dance the night away with some video game fun. But you don’t need a fancy game system just crank up the radio or break out some CDs.
- Crafts: Throughout the day create a time capsule of the year’s events use personal items and magazines, newspapers, fashions, cds…Plan where you kids will bury it until next year. Your kids will have a blast recalling some of their best moments from the year and all will enjoy bringing this out during the next New Year’s Eve celebration and reminiscing.
- Dress Up Fun: Let your kids dress up and let them go all out for the celebration, picking their own clothes and accessorizing with perhaps some of yours. Take plenty of pictures and don’t forget you have to dress up as well. Let the kids decorate a room in the house with streamers and balloons and create noisemakers for them to ring in the New Year with. Get some sparkling cider or their favorite drinks and allow them to toast out of fancy glasses.
- Be Sure to Ring In the New Year! All this excitement can tire a kid out quick. Be sure to ring in the New Year in an earlier time zone than yours to ensure they get to see the ball drop before their eyes do that night.
