Boost Self Esteem

The month of February has been deemed International Boost Self Esteem Month, and it couldn't come at a better time. February and early March seem to be the months when everyone is so sick of winter, and even worse - missing the sunshine and that precious Vitamin D, leaving our hearts and minds down and out. We're a bit sad, a bit stuck in the cold blues and a whole lot wondering if this season is going to last forever.

Much like the frosty quiet season of winter, our hearts can go through seasons too. It's so important for our own self worth to realize this. As I'm in a season of homeschooling young ones, building a new business, and now growing another little one in my womb - I have had to say no to others and to myself a whole lot more.  I try to remember that saying no is better than what I have been doing - letting people down - and that this season will not last forever.  There will come a time when the homeschooling is no longer the trials and tribulations of learning to read, but the more child-led years of the teens. I will have days where I look back and miss those baby moments, but for now, I can't let this winter of my soul be more than just that. A season.

As you think about the ways to boost your self-esteem - be it by reading great inspirational things, surrounding yourself with amazing music or just prayer or meditation to keep the peace - do you think about the seasons of life? I'm finding understanding those seasons, and finding the contentment within, can be the best anti-depressant ever. Here's to loving ourselves and our seasons!
