Dirty Secrets and Clean Starts

You’ve got them too. Those things that you have kept hidden, things that you have been dependably discreet about, things that don’t get expressed and that you have kept inward. There are also those things that you wished no one else saw but they do. Like that junk drawer, those papers on your desk you never seem to get to and yes, those few extra pounds. Those secrets.

Kids, careers, the single life or being someone’s wife, it can all be a dirty business. Sure it’s full of rewards but for all of us there are some things just haven’t gotten done. Yet. Those secrets that sometimes get messed up with life. Sometimes you just wish you could have a Clean Start.

So what are my dirty secrets? When I leave the house I look like I stepped out of Vogue magazine but when I am home I look like I went rogue. Somehow I slipped into the not combing my hair, wearing the old t-shirt with holes in them and ashy leg routine. Again. And you know what? I didn’t feel good about it. So I gave myself a night clothes, maxing and relaxing at home makeover. A small investment with some big payoffs. This was a secret that was noticed by someone else. One word. Husband.

Then there’s those bigger secrets or dreams, that spark that we have that’s ready to burst into a fire in the belly. My passion for empowering women by sharing our stories has lived in the stories that we share here at Lifetime Moms and at Ladies Live and Learn. But another place I have been desiring to do that is through film. I have now completed producing my first film based on my own story called “Breathe” and I can’t wait to share more with you in the coming weeks.

Here’s another secret. The thing about clean starts is that you can have them anytime. You just decide that the time is now. The great thing about this time of year is that you will find lots of support. Others resolving to do what they haven’t done or just want to do.
