Do You Suffer From Headaches? Find Out a Cause And a Cure
I used to suffer from headaches frequently, sometimes they'd even be that horrible M word - migraine. I had them for so many years I didn't even remember NOT having headaches, or understand that I didn't need to live that way. I think many of us can live with a disease or pain so long we forget that not everyone has to suffer from these problems - including us.
If you suffer from headaches too, have you thought about what may be causing them? Here are some ways to try and discover the source (which will lead to the remedy!):
-- Do you have neck pain? Sometimes headaches can be caused by a spine out of alignment. I had huge relief from migraines by being adjusted regularly by a chiropractor.
-- Do you ever have allergies? There may be something in your home or office (like a candle or air freshner) causing your headache. It's a good idea to rid your spaces of candles or air freshners made from artificial scents and chemicals. Stick with soy candles and essential oils instead.
-- Do you eat a lot of processed foods? Nearly 95% of the time processed foods contain MSG, which is a neurotoxin and is known to cause headaches. Cleaning up your diet and going back to "real" food might be your headache reliever.
-- Are you under a lot of stress? Many times our bodies react from stress in ways that we don't even realize. I've had huge benefits from doing breathing exercises and learning to calm my spirit, center my energy and relax my mind - all leading to the headache being relieved. Making a daily practice of these things is a great way to prevent further headaches.
-- Does your diet contain a lot of sugar or wheat? It's well known that sugar and wheat both are inflammatory to the body, even if you don't have an allergy or sensitivity. Try cutting out one or both of these foods/ingredients and see if your headaches don't go away. I bet you'll feel better, no matter what happens!
-- Do you spend a lot of time in front of a computer screen? Take some time every hour to look away and rest your eyes. Also think about that it might be time to see the eye doc again to make sure you don't need glasses (or a stronger prescription)! Eye strain is a huge cause of headaches for people like me - glued to the computer all day!
