National Random Acts of Kindness Month

The best thing I love about random acts of kindness is that no matter big or small, they can touch our heart in the deepest of ways. As soon as you're not expecting it, maybe even losing hope on life, something from someone will pop in and lift you up with their kind act.

Last summer I had a friend just out of nowhere gift me with a beautiful high end leather purse that is still to this day my most favorite bag ever. She said she had remembered me saying I'd never had a fancy purse before and she wanted to gift me with one. I was so shocked and so humbled and SO EXCITED. It was a real mood lifter and what woman doesn't love a new fabulous bag?

Some of the smaller acts that come to mind most often involve my children. Just today, my husband and three boys were all leaving the house to make an appointment when my 8 year old ran back in just to say "Bye mommy - I love you!" and run back out to the car. It puffed my heart up two more sizes and got me out of being cranky with him, for sure.  Other times my 3 year old will just out of nowhere tell me I'm beautiful, or my 6 year old will tell me I'm the best teacher ever (we homeschool). I sometimes wonder if all little boys are this loving, or if I won the son lottery?

As you think about the nice things people you know or even perfect strangers have done for you - imagine how others would feel if you paid those acts forward. I'll be taking some extra time the rest of this month to randomly make people feel special - just because. A smile is very good medicine.
