Emotional Health
Spiritual Wellness Month
March is Spiritual Wellness Month, and what a great way to reflect upon our own ways of connecting to our Higher Power.
For me personally, faith has always played a huge role in my heart and that of my family. I notice that my levels of stress and feelings of being overwhelmed are directly related to how much time I'm spending in prayer. The less I'm praying and meditating and just altogether "slowing down", the more I'm feeling like I'm drowning in the responsibilities of life.
It's so important to have a healthy spiritual life - no matter your religion or beliefs. Science even backs this thought up, as studies have shown increased emotional stability, lower health concerns, even a lower rate in heart disease - all thanks to the practice of prayer.
In addition to prayer, I've noticed such a benefit in my own life with time to keep a journal, specifically a gratitude journal, to gain perspective and remember each day before it's lost to my mom memory loss. I know it seems so cliche - but it really is true that writing down what you're thankful for makes you more thankful. Living a life of gratitude can transform and renew your mind from the brain melting effects technology, television, the internet and all the rest can have on us after a while.
Take the rest of March to seek out new ways to make yourself more spiritually healthy and I know you won't be disappointed!
