We have all dropped the ball from time to time while juggling kids and careers. This is your official pardon. Zakiyyah has already begun implementing the advice I gave her to help her to become a healthy bride and mom. The small steps she is taking from Pepsi to Pilates are going to make a big difference. For starters, she is switching to diet Pepsi to limit her sugar intake and doing a Pilates workout daily to trim down.

Detox: Detoxing from all beverages except water for 10 days will help you jumpstart weight loss along with ridding your body of toxins, purifying your blood and building a strong immune system. Drinking water increases the rate in which you burn calories and it will also help speed up your metabolism and helps you remain full. If possible fast from meats and sweets for 10 days. Although you are detoxing that doesn’t mean you are not eating. In fact, eat 5 small meals a day if you can. This will help speed up your metabolism, which is important in losing weight. Take a day to plan some of the meals and snacks that you will have before the detox. It is important to have foods on hand and meal ideas so that you don’t get stumped on what to eat and resort to bad food habits.
Inner Income: Reconnect with yourself and build your inner income. Your inner currency and worth needs deposits and not just withdrawals. Do what feels comfortable to you but each day take a few minutes to meditate or pray. Begin each day with a positive thought or something that makes you laugh or think. I believe positive affirmations shape our sense of self esteem. I often have a positive thought or quote on twitter or facebook daily so that can be a place for you to start. If you don’t have one set up an automatic savings account that will take $1 a day from your checking account. It is not a lot but it is a start towards additional saving for your long term future.
Exercise: Take 30 minutes to do some cardio and strength training 3x per week.
Tenacity: Hold firmly to your knowledge that you can do this! Stick to your goal of losing some weight to not only look great but to be healthier for your family and yourself.
